During the last three or four decades, Libyan constructions companies have struggled with many difficulties due to many operational and managerial problems, creating strongly negative impacts on the productivity and utilization of many constructions companies around the country. This research investigates the current implementation levels of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII) as a planning and control system within the Libyan constructions industry. A survey methodology has been applied in this investigation using an intensive detailed questionnaire. Based on the analysis of the survey, the results show that the management body within the surveyed constructions companies have a modest strategy towards most of the areas that are considered as being very crucial in any successful implementation of MRPII systems. The results also show a variation within the implementation levels of the MRPII sub-elements, giving the highest level in the emphasise on data accuracy. The research has also identified limitations within the investigated areas within the targeted companies, and has pointed to areas where senior and executive managers within the Libyan constructions industry should take actions in order to achieve effective implementations of MRPII systems within their business areas.
