The solar activity cycle is characterized by a significant change in the number of sunspots and other changes in the solar activity. The solar wind modulates the flux of galactic charged particles within the inner solar system. In this work, the effect of the solar cycle on the cosmic rays near the surface of the earth is investigated by using EXPACS program. The Absorbed dose in air is used as main parameter to represent the flux of secondary cosmic rays near the sea level. In addition to the fluctuations in the absorbed dose in air between the years 1954 – 2019, the average absorbed dose in air during the solar activity maxima and minima are studied. The relation between the absorbed dose in air and the number of sunspots is also examined. It is concluded that there is a strong anti-correlation between the flux of secondary cosmic rays near the sea level reflected in the absorbed dose in air and the solar activity represented by the number of observed sunspots. These results are in a good agreement with previous studies.
