Abstract

In recent years, many countries have been focusing on developing methods of producing biodiesel from Vegetable oils and fats. In this paper, Fresh oils have been converted into biodiesel in one step by using NaOH as a catalyst where the process consumes about 2 hours under 60 ⁰C, while WCO needed a pre-step (esterification) which involves using HCl. The characterizing of oils and their corresponding biodiesel are detailed in this project where the result shows that oils are similar to their corresponding biodiesel in terms of the content of FFA, degree of unsaturation, pour, and cloud points while the difference in viscosity was significant.
