Abstract

Taurodont molars Prevalencein patients receiving care at the Dental Clinics Complex, Faculty of Dentistry, Zliten.  402 panoramic scans were employed from patient records that conducted as retrospective descriptive evaluation; there were 204 female individuals and 198 male patients varying in age from 18 to 65. A diagnosis of taurodontism was checked on the panoramic scans, Using a chi-square test, gender preference and the positioning of taurodont molars were studied. 13 panoramic scans including 7 females and 6 males were revealed to have taurodontism(3.23%) (P > 0.05).From a total of 3955 examined molars, the incidence of taurodontmolars was (0.73%). The second mandibular tooth was the most affected, and the mandibular molars were more recorded than the maxillary molars. Patients at the Clinics Complex, Faculty of Dentistry, Zliten, were usually affected with taurodontism. To determine its distribution in Libya's general population, to compare these findings to individuals from other races, and to determine any correlations, more comprehensivestudies are needed. To prevent any treatment challenges, taurodontism in the mandibular teeth—especially the second mandibular tooth—should be taken into attention.
