The impact of political changes in Libya, on the citizens' exercise of their electoral right to choose their representatives.

Abstract

During the last ten years, Libya has gone through many events and changes of a political nature; the impact of these changes has emerged on the rights of citizens, especially their political rights. The most prominent of these rights affected by what Libya went through is the right to vote and choose representatives and deputies, As this right was affected by political conflicts between different political bodies. The discussion about exercising this right has become restricted to the local side in the municipalities, and texts have remained confined to lines since the last direct parliamentary elections of 2014, after which any popular participation in choosing the members of the legislative and executive authorities was confiscated. It was restricted to a group of deputies and individuals who clung to power since the election of the General National Congress.What added the prejudice to this right which was the international intervention represented by the United Nations, which, although it had announced its desire to return to the people to choose their representatives. However, it is devoted to the survival of the same people for years, despite the illegality or legitimacy of that.
