Abstract

ABO blood group antigens have been speculated to be involved in developing various human illnesses, including infectious, neoplastic, and cardiovascular, this study has documented the association of the ABO blood groups with the occurrence of renal failure disease. Aim :  To determine the correlation of  ABO and  Rh blood group among chronic renal failure patients under  hemodialysis in Libya. Methods : A cross-sectional study was conducted at Mesallata educational hospital and Zliten educational hospital, this study included two groups; the patient group included 100 cases (63 male and 37 female) under hemodialysis, and the control group (100 individuals), from (December 2019 to April 2020. Results : This study showed that there was a significant effect of blood type on the hemodialysis patients, with P-value (0.047) which was less than (0.05), also there was a statistically significant effect for the age on the hemodialysis patients, with  P-value (0.000) which was less than (0.05). And no statistically significant effect for the gender on the hemodialysis patients with a P-value (0.116). Conclusion : There was a significant effect of ABO And RH  Blood Group on the hemodialysis patients in both genders.
