ملامح من التكوين الثقافي والاجتماعي للسواحلية في شرق أفريقيا

كثيراً ما يطرح الخلاف المتعلق بطبيعة الحضارة السواحلية (بطريقة غير دقيقة من وجهة نظري)، بصيغة خيارين: هل هي حضارة أفريقية أو عربية؟ وقد تمخض عن ذلك ظهـور مؤلفات علمية وعامة هائلة، في حين ركزت المؤلفات التاريخية الأوربية المدفوعة بالأيدلوجية العنصرية الاستعمارية في السنين الماضية على تقليل التأثير الحضاري العربي على الساحل الشرقي الأفريقي وتشويهه. أما حاليا فالنتائج من البحوث الحديثة أكثر اتزانا وموضوعية، فقد تم تجميع مواد ذات أدلة كافية (في علـم اللغـات والآثار والتاريخ) تعين على استجلاء عملية تشكل البنية الاجتماعية والسياسية والاقتصادية والثقافية واللغوية للساحل المذكور.إن نقطتنا الرئيسة هنا تتلخص في أن السواحيليين (بمعنى الانتماء إلى الساحل أو الشاطىءهم قبل كل شيء جماعات هجينة أفريقية. ولدوا وتوالدوا على الساحل والجزر مـن شـرق أفريقيا. بيد أن توطنهم على الساحل وإسهامهم في النشاط التجاري للمحيط الهندي جعـل لهـم تاريخاً طويلاً من التمازج والتفاعل العرقي والثقافي مع القادمين إلى الساحل من خارج أفريقيا وداخلها.
