Analysis of business incubator performance indicators and their impact on economic development: The mediating role of entrepreneurs

This study aimed to evaluate and analyze the reality of business incubators' performance indicators for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Egypt, through the mediating role of entrepreneurs. The problem of this study crystallized in the following research question: What is the role of entrepreneurs as an intervening variable in the influential relationship between the dimensions of business incubators' performance indicators and the achievement of economic development, as applied to SMEs in Egypt? The study population consisted of SMEs registered with the Industrial Development Authority of the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Egypt. The study was conducted on a sample of (384) individuals, adopting the descriptive approach. The most important results of the study revealed a significant positive impact of the dimensions of business incubators' performance indicators on achieving economic development, as well as a statistically significant mediating effect of entrepreneurs on the relationship between analyzing the performance indicators of business incubators and achieving economic development. Based on these results, a set of recommendations were proposed
