International humanitarian law Is one of the essential pillars for protecting human dignity and reducing the suffering of individuals during armed conflicts. This law aims to protect persons not participating in hostilities, restrict means and methods of warfare, and achieve a balance between military necessities and humanitarian considerations. Despite the significant Importance of this law, its application faces numerous challenges, including a lack of awareness of the laws, non-compliance by conflicting parties, and modern technological developments that affect patterns of conflict. Over the centuries, international humanitarian law has evolved from the Geneva and Hague Conventions to additional protocols, resulting in a complex and multidimensional legal framework. However, a substantial gap remains between theoretical principles and practical implementation. This research examines the evolution of International humanitarian law and its foundational principles, analyzes the issues hindering its effective application, discusses international efforts to improve compliance with these laws, and suggests possible solutions to overcome current obstacles. The research aims to enhance the deep understanding of international humanitarian law and the challenges of its application, contributing to efforts to better protect humanity In times of conflict.
