Similarity and Citation Policy

The Journal of Economic and Political Sciences is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. This document outlines the journal’s policy on textual similarity (plagiarism) and precise citation practices to ensure that all published content is original, properly attributed, and ethically produced.

Similarity & Plagiarism Policy

Acceptable Similarity Threshold

All manuscripts undergo mandatory screening using iThenticate.

  • The overall similarity index must not exceed 20%.
  • No more than 5% from any single source (excluding commonly used phrases).
Unacceptable Similarity
  • Verbatim Copying: Without quotation marks or proper attribution.
  • Improper Paraphrasing: Superficial wording changes without citation.
  • Redundant Publication: Reusing previously published work without disclosure.
  • Translation Plagiarism: Translating a foreign text without citation.
Editorial Actions & Sanctions

Manuscripts with excessive similarity will be rejected. In cases of serious or deliberate plagiarism, the journal reserves the right to blacklist authors and notify their academic institutions.

Citation & Referencing Policy

Citation Ethics
  • Primary Sources: Cite original research rather than derivative reviews.
  • Avoid Excessive Self-Citation: Do not cite your own work solely to inflate metrics.
  • Accuracy: Citations must genuinely reflect the source's content.
Inappropriate Citations
  • Manipulation: Adding citations to artificially boost impact factors.
  • Fake Sources: Citing predatory or non-existent journals.
  • Irrelevant Citations: Padding bibliographies with unrelated references.
Reference Style (APA 7)

The journal strictly follows the APA 7th Edition style. All references must be listed in full and formatted consistently without numbering.

Author Responsibility & Enforcement

Authors are solely responsible for originality and accuracy. Submitting a manuscript confirms that:

  • The work is original and unpublished elsewhere.
  • All external contributions are appropriately cited.
  • The manuscript complies fully with the journal’s ethical guidelines.

The editorial team reserves the right to reject or retract any submission found violating this policy at any stage (pre- or post-publication).
