Authors’ Duties and Rights
Adhering to the principles of scientific research requires authors to comply with a set of responsibilities and general guidelines to ensure proper application of research methodologies. This enables the successful publication of their manuscript in the Journal of Marine Sciences and Environmental Technologies, and allows them to benefit from the rights granted by the journal upon publication.
First: Authors’ Duties Before and During Submission
- Authors must adhere to all scientific research ethics and principles.
- Authors are expected to maintain academic integrity and uphold scientific honesty.
- Authors must comply with the writing guidelines, requirements, and steps for scientific research as outlined in the journal’s publication policies.
- Authors are responsible for adhering to the submission deadlines set by the journal and must send their manuscript within the specified timeframe.
- Authors should ensure that the sources they rely on are credible and relevant, either fully or partially, to the research problem in order to support the scientific study without deviating from its focus.
- Authors must select a study sample that aligns with the research topic and use appropriate tools and statistical methods that support accurate and reliable research outcomes.
- Previous studies must be cited using one of the internationally recognized citation styles.
Second: Authors’ Rights During and After Publication
The following rights are granted to authors for their manuscripts published in the Journal of Marine Sciences and Environmental Technologies:
- Authors retain intellectual and scientific ownership of the manuscripts published on the journal's platform.
- Authors may request amendments to their manuscript during or after the review process but prior to its official publication on the journal’s website.
- Typographical or formatting errors are discovered post-publication, authors have the right to request corrections. The editorial board will revise and republish the corrected version.
- No other academic journal may reproduce, republish, or translate any part of a published article without prior permission from the editorial board and the author(s) of the manuscript.
- Authors have the right to appeal if their manuscript is rejected. The editorial board must provide a detailed report explaining the reasons for rejection. However, authors may not compel the journal to publish a manuscript that has been declined by two qualified peer reviewers.
- Published manuscripts must be properly attributed to their authors whenever cited or referenced in other academic works or public announcements. The author’s name must be included in every version or format in which the work is reproduced or shared, in accordance with applicable copyright laws.
- No unauthorized deletions, modifications, additions, or alterations may be made to the published manuscript. Any action that could harm the author’s integrity or reputation is strictly prohibited.
- The published paper is proven to contain plagiarism or an excessive similarity index exceeding 30% with previously published work, the manuscript will be withdrawn from public access.
