. Attitudes Toward Women's Employment in University Teaching: A Study from the Perspective of Faculty Members at Selected Colleges of Asmarya Islamic University in Zliten

Abstract

This study aims to examine the attitudes toward women’s employment in university teaching from the perspective of faculty members at selected colleges of Asmarya Islamic University in Zliten. To achieve the study’s objectives, the descriptive analytical method was adopted. The research sample consisted of 177 faculty members selected using a stratified random sampling technique. The study employed the Attitudes Toward Women in University Teaching scale, originally developed by Brant (1978) and translated into Arabic by Musa (1998). The findings revealed that faculty members generally hold positive attitudes toward women’s involvement in university teaching. Moreover, statistically significant differences were found at the 0.05 level in participants' attitudes based on gender, with female faculty members displaying more favorable attitudes. In contrast, no statistically significant differences were found in attitudes based on marital status, years of experience, academic rank, or college affiliation.
