EXPERIMENTATION AND NARRATIVE TRANSFORMATIONS IN THE LIBYAN

FEMINIST NOVEL: CONCERTO AND HASHISH MARKET AS A MODEL

Abstract

The world of narrative fiction has witnessed many creative experiments throughout its journey, as this component was not immune to the updates that affected the other basic components in the novel industry. In the last decade, Libyan narratives have witnessed a remarkable transformation, competing with other environments and languages. Due to this creative shift, some works were translated into other languages. One of the most prominent shifts is the Libyan writer's adoption of modern narrative techniques, most notably experimentation. We see this technique spreading in the works of several writers, including expatriates and residents. The use of experimentation varied among them, as we see in the two novels under study. We see more experimentation in Concerto than in Souq Al-Hashish. The research followed the descriptive approach and a comparative study to measure experimentation in the two novels, using two methods: time and breaking its pattern, and linguistic multiplicity.
