Abstract

The research aims to study one of the phenomena of urban urbanization, which is the phenomenon of random housing in the margins of cities, areas of contact between the area of the urban plan of the city and the adjacent rural lands, which are often in the form of rural pockets overlapping with the outskirts of cities.the analytical method was adopted in this study, by linking  the relationship between the emergence and expansion of the phenomenon of informal housing and the low standard of living, the absence of the state's role in laying the foundations of housing development and the disruption of laws and legislation regulating the housing sector. The study reached several results, the most important of which is random housing is associated with developing countries as a result of the deterioration of the economic conditions of a certain segment of the population, and that random settlements lack of all the requirements for healthy housing, and clearly contribute to the exacerbation of the phenomenon of visual pollution resulting from the heterogeneity of the elements of the place.  The study recommends addressing this phenomenon by activating the role of the agencies concerned with combating violations in all their forms and preventing their spread, in addition to drawing up future plans for housing growth and conducting a field survey aimed at preparing a database to count the residents of slums to provide alternative housing for them in the future, and supporting the private sector in housing development projects.
