Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a common chronic condition that leads to multiple hematological and metabolic disorders. This study aimed to evaluate hematological and biochemical changes in CKD patients compared to healthy controls. This study was conducted at the Al-Khums Dialysis Center and included 98 participants: 69 CKD patients (35 males, 34 females) undergoing hemodialysis, and 29 healthy individuals (14 males, 15 females). Complete blood count, urea, creatinine, uric acid, iron, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium were measured. The t-test was used for statistical analysis. CKD patients showed significant decreases in red blood cell (RBC) count, hemoglobin (Hb), hematocrit (HCT), calcium (Ca), and iron (Fe). Significant increases were observed in Urea, Creatinine (Cr), Uric Acid (UA), Phosphorus (P), and Magnesium (Mg), while white blood cells (WBC) and platelets (PLT) showed no significant differences (P > 0.05). Advanced CKD is associated with severe anemia, marked disturbances in mineral metabolism, and a significant elevation in nitrogenous waste products (Urea and Creatinine), necessitating regular monitoring and early therapeutic intervention.
