Aim: The objective of the study was to determine the prevalence of mesiodens along with other epidemiological characteristics. Materials and methods: A retrospective evaluation of data of patients was done to calculate the prevalence of mesiodens in 450 cases in age range from 5 to 45 years. In addition to the prevalence, age, gender, number, morphology, orientation, and complications associated with it was also recorded. Results: The prevalence of mesiodens among patients aged 5-45 years who visited the clinic for any reason was less than 0.4%, with only 2 patients from the pediatric group identified as having mesiodens. The pediatric age group (5 to 12 years) with 253 patients shows a higher percentage (56.2%) compared to the adult group (13 to 45 years) with 197 patients (42.8%). The study also revealed that males constitute 45.5% of the sample, while females make up 54.5%. Conclsion : The prevalence of mesiodens was determined to be 0.4% in the analyzed population, consistent with the literature. Despite the low prevalence in this population, approximately 90% mesiodens has been associated with dental problems therefore early diagnosis and treatment is recommended.
