Abstract

The study aimed to know the extent to which accounting professors use Excel as an educational tool within the accounting education curricula in Libyan universities. The study relied on the descriptive analytical approach by designing a questionnaire to collect primary data from the study sample. The study population is represented in the accounting professors in Libyan universities, where the questionnaire form was distributed to the study sample in paper and electronic form using Google Forms. The data were analyzed using the descriptive statistics method by the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) program. The study concluded with a set of results, the most important of which is that Excel is not used within the curricula of accounting education in Libyan universities. Despite the confidence of accounting professors to use Excel, it is not used as an educational tool for accounting students. The study recommended the necessity of using Excel in accounting education and the importance of including Excel within the accounting curricula.
